MoonScapes: Amateur lunar photography
MoonScapes is a repository for my Moon pictures to share with like-minded astrophotography amateurs.

I started astronomy back in the 70s, at the age of 13, after looking at the Moon through a friend's Zeiss 'Telementor' 63/840 mm refractor telescope. I was amazed. I soon bought a 75mm 'Ganymede' refractor which , I must say, was not as good as the Telementor, but it got me started.

Back then, I used to take pictures of the Moon with a film camera through a 25mm eyepiece. The result was never great! Still I found the very possibility of taking pictures of the Moon and actually see craters, no matter how blurry they were, absolutely mind-boggling. I was reaching for the Moon and I was hooked!

Not so long ago, after a 25 year-gap, during which I pursued other hobbyistic ventures, I decided to get back to my childhood passion by purchasing a Sky-Watcher 10" dobsonian 'Go-To', a few eyepieces and an Imaging Source DMK41AU02.AS.

Telescopes and cameras have changes in 25 years! It's now possible for keen amateurs on a budget like me, to image the Moon in a way that was inconceivable two decades ago. Today I am still as smitten by majestic qualities of the Moon as I was as a kid. My equipment is fairly basic (refer to the Equipment section), yet it allows me to take photos I am very proud of.

The photos taken during my first year back behind the telescope are in the Photo Gallery. As there is still much room for improvement, I hope that the quality of my photos will improve overtime.
Thank you for visiting!
